Ben – we met the night before at the Hachita Community Center. This summer, Ben quit his job in Philadelphia and went for a hike – on the Continental Divide Trail. For over 4 months He’s walked over 3000 miles, most of the time he was sleeping in the wilderness, with bears and mountain lions, in the rain, in the snow, and in the desert without food and water. He met all kinds of people, but I was the first thru-hikerbiker he has met and camped with. Just 45 miles away from Crazy Cook Monument, the official finishing point of the CDT, and his journey – my impression was that Ben was still unsure about what to do next. So we talked all night, and then all morning – about our journeys, plans, lives, and wives. My point is – I’m near the end of my journey too – just 600 miles, or three weeks, to Los Angeles, CA. Time to make some plans, time to stick to something next…

And the road again!

The CDT.
Jason hikes and prays a lot. He survived a brutal beating 2 years ago and saved the life of his friend and he gave me a lot of tips on how to help my sick mom. His message to anyone reading this blog is:
“Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,
says the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.”
One more mile to go. Then turn left, and go south on Route 80 for 7 more miles. This will take you to Rodeo, NM where you will find a good place to stay for the night. Safe travels!
